A project sanctioned by DH&T is being implemented at Balaramapuram to document and creation of digital library, Training in the lace weaving craft and value addition to Balaramapuram sarees are undertaken to preserve and popularize the languishing craft of Balaramapuram sarees in the tradition of butta laying techniques during 2012-13.

Setting up of Weavers Service Centre facility at Balaramapuram
This institute had set up a weavers service centre, functioning at Hantex process house complex, Balaramapuram to conduct skill upgradation training for weaver’s, dyers, supervisors and to disseminate knowledge related to the manufacture of quality handloom products.
- Establishment of Technology centre at Balaramapuram
To set up a full-fledged technology centre for handloom textiles with weaving, processing, testing laboratories with CAD/CAM centre to undertake short term, long term technical training programmes is being implemented at Balaramapuram under this project sanctioned by Government of Kerala.

Development of Regional brand in Handloom Industry
Under this project, sanctioned by Government of Kerala, the common umbrella brand name “Kerala handloom” was created along with branding of six handloom regions based on Kasaragode, Kannur, Palakkad, Kuthampully, Chendamangalam and Balaramapuram. The methodology adopted was surveying and studying of traditional art forms, transcreation of designs, product development, awareness programmes and exhibitions with statewide publicity programme implemented during 2008-2012.
